Please take a moment to read a thank you note that CATS team members Shivan Mahabir and Reggie Coupet received today. The power of assistive technology to give independence and access is illustrated in this wonderful note that shines a bright light on how what we do benefits our students. Great job Shivan, Reggie and the rest of the CATS team.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for introducing my daughter to Kurzweil 3000. The program is wonderful for all auditory learners. It gives her the independence she has been seeking. It allows her to hear all of her papers, books, articles and the web. She can also hear all of her own work read back to her. I have seen a tremendous growth in both comprehension and editing skills. The program also gives her the freedom of working from anywhere alone using earphones. Independence has been a goal of ours for many years. College level material is complicated and being able to hear and read at the same time has saved time and energy. It has made her life much easier. Also the speed in which she works has greatly increased.
I would also like to thank Shivan and Reginald for all of their technical support. They have always been available to answer all questions. They have helped with all programming issues. They insured that the method she is most comfortable with at home is available at the college. I also appreciate the scanner and digital recorder that Shivan recommended. In the past we have purchased items that did not work so well. He has tried out the technology and the products and they actually help and work.
I recommend that all students look into the current technology that is available. I find that with the right tools, not only is she learning better but she is also retaining what she has learned.
